Commercial Lines Account Manager – Sheboygan

The Account Manager serves as the agency contact for customers and prospective customers. An Account Manager must get to know all of his/her clients and prospective clients and be responsible for meeting the customer’s needs in a timely, effective and friendly manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for meeting the customer’s needs in a proactive, timely, effective and friendly manner
  • Service existing clients for any support needs by handling inquiries and maintaining service standards. This may include accompanying Risk Advisor on occasional appointments outside of the office as occasionally requested
  • Manage the process for renewal business and assist the Risk Advisor on managing new business; continually touching base with Risk Advisor to determine proper outcome
  • Work with Risk Advisor to retain renewal business by identifying policies requiring renewal attention, requesting renewal quotes, following up on delayed renewals, remarketing, negotiating prices and coverage, renewing policies, and generating proposals
  • Work with the Risk Advisor to make coverage recommendations or changes, including efforts to add new lines of business to existing accounts, for all assigned clients on a continuous basis
  • Assist Risk Advisors to secure prospective clients by preparing materials for submission to carriers, submitting applications or obtaining rates online, negotiating prices and coverage, and generating proposals
  • Handle all inquiries and maintain service standards for all assigned clients on a continuous basis
  • Follow agency and department procedures for account maintenance
  • Work proficiently and independently in all customer management database activity (TAM), to include strong documentation of any paper trails and customer interactions
  • Manage workflow through customer management database (TAM); activities entered and workflow documented while meeting all service standards outlined in the McClone Way
  • Serve as a resident expert on all relevant carriers and their products, including various applications, forms, and underwriting requirements for each carrier
  • Maintain efficient communication with carrier representatives
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, regulations, and products and help coworkers to do the same by making sure they have access to the same updates
  • Assist with industry research and presentation needs
  • Delegate applicable task work to Administrative Support staff to enable focus on customer service and sales activities
  • Train other employees and undergo continuing training as needed
  • Offer constructive suggestions for improvement of departmental, operational or agency procedures
  • Serve as back-up to other team members
  • All other duties assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required
  • Minimum of one year in related insurance customer service field or successful completion of insurance/business related college courses is required
  • 2+ years of related insurance/customer service experience is preferred
  • Must have Property and Casualty WI Insurance License
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to delegate work to support staff
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem resolution skills

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access files cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Constantly using hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment (copy machine, label machine, etc.)
  • Work takes place in a well-lighted, heated, and/or air conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation
